Context of the Therapist
I believe that people make sense within their context. And so, here is some context surrounding myself and my practice. While originally from North Carolina, I find myself in Tennessee pursuing licensure as both a Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist. I have a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, along with a Graduate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy and Trauma Counseling from Richmont Graduate University. I utilize both certificates by establishing a practice based on various family system theories and trauma-informed interventions.
In my work, I am mindful of all contributing parts, such as cultural background, attachment styles, and family history. I enjoy the process of listening and attending, especially to those whose voices may feel unheard, such as teens, women, and those with complex trauma. Through forming a healthy and safe attachment, I am hopeful that difficult emotions will "make sense," and your story of resilience and compassion will be heard.
Because the therapeutic relationship is an integral part of the therapy process, I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to assess goodness of fit prior to our first session together. To schedule, you are welcome to request a consultation appointment, send an email, or call and leave a voice message. Again, thank you for being here, as you consider taking this brave step.
